The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of our daily lives, including buying a home. However, as with many aspects of our "new normal", with a little extra thought and planning, we can go a long way in building a safe and positive experience for all parties.
It doesn't matter if you are in the market to buy or sell, here is what you can expect during your experience:
Health and safety is a top priority. When you sell your home, ask your real estate broker what additional cleaning and sanitation precautions are taken before each visit. While the most frequently touched surfaces should be given special attention, consider opening all interior doors, including closets, and leaving the lights on to minimize the need for guests to touch them. surfaces of the house. Alternatively, if you are going on an in-person tour, remember to sanitize or wash your hands, or both, before entering and leaving the house.
Respect physical distance. Whether you meet your real estate broker directly at the property or bring your family in and out of the house between visits, be sure to follow the recommendations for physical distancing for anyone who does not belong to you. When you attend a visit with your broker, remember to stand two meters apart.
Plan. Eliminate unnecessary visits by working with your real estate broker to learn as much as possible about the home before you visit it. Plan to limit visits to people who will be parties to the contract. You can, however, involve your family and friends by inviting them to a virtual tour of the property.
